UNCHARTED

Hunt, the author of more than 70 books, departs from her usual fare with this competent and spooky novel.

The plot line is a blend of the movies Castaway and The Big Chill, with a touch of the television series Lost, creatively thrown together with the biblical story of the beggar Lazarus and C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce.

After being apart for over twenty years, five college pals gather for the funeral of their friend and end up being "guilted" by the widow into taking a trip halfway across the world to help build a school on a remote island nation. When a shipwreck leaves them washed up on a deserted island, they discover everything is not as it seems.

As they struggle to survive, the island seems to fight back. They search for food and water to no avail. The sun refuses to reveal itself while windstorms bite at their skin. Their only refuge is an eerie cave where their hallucinations seem to get the best of them.

Slowly, the friends start to learn each other’s deepest and darkest secrets. And, as they struggle with these revelations, they discover that the island itself has secrets. As hours bleed into days, the question quickly becomes not HOW they’ll escape, but IF they’ll escape.

A haunting and thoughtful thriller on how your past is the key to your escape.
